The Materials Requirements Planning module creates make or buy recommendations
based on the Master Production Schedule or on current sales orders, works
orders, purchase orders, existing replenishments, and GRP requirements. By use
of tagging, it keeps track of which items have generated stock shortages. The
plan can be refined by using certain conditions e.g. by selecting
supersessions. This module is also used for forecasting, and can generate
various forecasts. The module introduces safety margins when calculating due
dates of orders and specifies a cut-off date when raising orders from the MRP
recommendations to avoid raising orders not yet needed.
